FOREIGN OFFICE. S..1.,
February 8th 1921.
With reference to the note No. 9/V/60 which you were good
enough to address to me on the 11th ultimo, I have the honour to
Inform you that the competent departments of His Majesty's Govern-
ment have carefully considered the question of the return to
Captain Jacob Bendixen of his property sequestered during the war.
The certificate of nationality enclosed in your note under
reference states that the rights of a Danish born subject which
are certified to belong to Captain Bendixen are voided if and
when Captain Bendixen opts for or otherwise obtains rights of
citizenship in any other country. Under the terms of the Treaty
of Peace with Germany, Captain Bendixen has the right to opt for
German nationality. His Majesty's Government must therefore re-
quest that a properly certified declaration should be furnished
by Captain Bendixen to the effect that he has renounced that
right, before they can consider the question of the release of his
property.
3.
I should be grateful if you would be so good as to com-
municate this decision to Captain Bendixen.
